Poplawski's Self-Described Friend Arrested On Parole Violations

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The self-described lifelong friend of convicted cop-killer Richard Poplawski is now in jail.

Edward Perkovic, 26, of Lawrenceville, was wanted for violating conditions of his parole from a 2009 drug conviction.

Perkovic was arrested after making a statement during an alleged drunken rage, where he got into a fight with his girlfriend. At the time, he said he would shoot any officer that showed up at his house.

Police found a .45-caliber rifle in a closet of his home.

Perkovic claimed at the time to be the best friend of Poplawski, who was convicted of killed three Pittsburgh Police officers in Stanton Heights in 2009.

Perkovic told the media about why Poplawski did what he did and that he wasn't that bad of a guy.

Perkovic was staying with his grandmother in Ross Township when he was arrested on Monday.

He is currently being held without bond in the Allegheny County Jail.
