Officer Hospitalized After Apparent Heart Attack

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police officials say an officer was taken to the hospital this afternoon after he appeared to suffer a heart attack while in his cruiser.

According to police, it happened around 1:30 p.m. on West Carson Street and the West End Circle.

The call reportedly came in for a driver slumped over the wheel of his car.

Police say the officer was conscious when emergency crews took him to UPMC Mercy Hospital.

There's no word on his condition.
