Pittsburgh Sees Influx In New Residents

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More people are saying "hello" to Pittsburgh than "goodbye," for the first time in years.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that more people are moving to the city than moving away – something that hasn't happened in decades.

Part of the increase has to do with the natural gas industry, as well as more technology, banking and health care jobs, the newspaper says.

According to U.S. Census data, in the last two years, the Pittsburgh-area's seven counties have risen in population by nearly 4,000, the Trib reports.

Many real estate companies also tell the newspaper that they've seen upward trends in the number of people looking to buy homes in the Pittsburgh.
