Moon Twp. Man On Probation Facing Child Endangerment Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Moon Township man already on probabtion is facing charges after police say they found him asleep while he was supposed to be babysitting a little girl.

Police say 31-year-old Peter Weaver was arrested Thursday on charges of endangering the welfare of children. Police say he told them he was on probation.

Investigators say police were first called to the home on Oak Drive by a bus driver who was trying to drop off a 7-year-old child there but no one was answering the door.

The driver also said he saw a child inside walking around in just a diaper, police said.

When police arrived at the home, the officer found the door open slightly but no one was around. Inside, police say the officer found the child in the bathtub crying, naked and had fecal matter on her.

According to investigators, Weaver was found to be unresponsive lying in bed in a nearby room.

Police say the officer had to shake him and remove some of the bedding before he woke up. According to police, he "was found to be very intoxicated."

Police say he told the officer he was babysitting the two children, a 4-year-old and the 7-year-old once she got home from school, for their mother.

Investigators say the children's mother had been using Weaver as a babysitter for about two weeks.

The children are now in the custody of their father. Police say the children's parents are separated.

Moon Township Police say Weaver has previously been arrested for drugs, retail theft, DUI, assaults and vandalism.

Officials with CYF are also investigating the incident.
