1 Killed In Bloomfield Hit-And-Run

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Bloomfield, which left a pedestrian dead Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. near the Bloomfield Bridge, in the 4000-block of Liberty Avenue.

Initial reports indicated that the driver may have intentionally struck a pedestrian. However, police said the driver of the car drove to a nearby location and called 911. The driver was interviewed by homicide detectives.

The victim has been identified as Chad Vida, 40, of Etna.

A witness tells KDKA that she saw two men arguing on Liberty Avenue just before the victim was hit. However, she wasn't sure why they were arguing or if they knew each other.

Police have also recovered the vehicle, which is a 2009 or 2010 Kia and a has a smashed windshield.
