Penguins' Fans Still Optimistic After Crosby's Injury
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's some good news for Penguins' fans.
Team captain, Sidney Crosby, is out of the hospital and back home resting, but there's still no date for him to return to the team.
The Pens are back on the ice tonight for the first time since Crosby's injury, and they're going for 16 wins in a row. So, what will life be like without Crosby?
Throughout the Student Rush line streaming up 5th Avenue there were priorities today - staying warm, filling the time with games, or sleep, and talking hockey.
If you had a sickening feeling when Crosby went down on Saturday, you are not alone.
"Definitely a tough break, and it's going to be tough not to have Sid in our lineup for the next couple of weeks or whatever it's going to be," said Penguins' forward Jarome Iginla.
Some fans worry Crosby's injury could be a season changer.
"I think the first line won't be as strong without him, and Kunitz really needs him," said Melanie Caddyre, of Philadelphia.
"It's going to hurt the team; but obviously, we've got a deep team," added Nick Misknic, of Delmont.
And it's in that depth that fans find hope.
"We just got Iginla and Morrow, and all of those; I think they'll step up," said Ryan Roeper, of Arlington.
"I don't think it's going to have much of an impact," Cole Bearfield, of East Brady, said. "I think that Iginla line is going to be pretty stacked, so I think that second line is really going to fill the void of Sid being out right now until the playoffs."
"I think he's been out and the Penguins have done fine," Trevor Mesar, of Butler, said. "I think, hopefully, he'll be back for the playoffs, but we'll do fine until he comes back."
But in the post-Crosby injury action Saturday, some fans found reassurance.
"I think he is one of the best players in the world and I just think that will impact it, but once he was out on Saturday they picked it up and they beat them," said Brittany Ofcharka, of Moon Township.
