TSN's Darren Dreger: Iginla Probably Didn't Want To Leave Calgary

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger joined The Fan Morning Show on Friday to offer his reaction to the Pens' acquisition of Jarome Iginla.

Dreger's feeling is that Jarome Iginla isn't the type of player that would want to jump ship mid-season simply to have a better shot at winning a championship, and thus was probably approached by Flames' general manager Jay Feaster about the possibility of making a deal with the Penguins that could benefit the Flames in the long-run.

Dreger described this new, tweaked Penguins team as a "group of character men," one that should exhibit a very strong drive to win a championship.

Dreger also said he expects to see an "invigorated" Jarome Iginla in Pittsburgh, now that the pressure of carrying the Flames is off his back.
