PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Pirates color commentator and former pitcher Bob Walk joined The Fan Morning Show today for the first 2013 edition of his weekly segment, “Walk on Wednesday.”

Walk explained that the Pirates offense stagnating in their 3-1 Opening Day loss to the Cubs is the sort of thing that is to be expected given the weather we’ve had.

“Pitchers always seem to have an advantage when it’s cold like that,” Walk said. “It was a day when the pitchers pretty much had everything under control.”

Walk explained that Gaby Sanchez played so well in the spring that he was able to earn a much bigger role from day one this season, despite the fact that jobs typically aren’t earned in March.

“Walk on Wednesday” can be heard every Wednesday on The Fan Morning Show at 8:40 a.m.
