PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -The four men running in Pittsburgh’s Democratic Primary for mayor were together Saturday night at a forum sponsored by local African-American community groups.

City Councilman Bill Peduto, former Auditor General Jack Wagner, political newcomer A.J. Richardson and State Rep. Jake Wheatley shared the stage.

They emphasized what they say is a much-needed change in the mayor’s office.

“Build a new Pittsburgh – a Pittsburgh that could be even greater than my grandfather came to and what it requires is new coalitions, new people, a new vision for what this city can become,” Peduto said.

“I’m committed to stop seeing our young people’s blood spreading throughout the City of Pittsburgh. We need leadership that is going to get involved, leadership that will not compromise, that will not sell out to corruption,” Richardson said.

“The government needs to be fixed in a whole multitude of ways. We’ve heard about it, we’ve read about it. It needs someone with experience and accountability to do so,” Wagner said.

“The time is now for us to stop politics as usual. The time for us to really change the power dynamic of our city,” Rep. Wheatley said.

The primary will be held on May 21.
