Pregnant Woman Takes On Would-Be Robber At Frick Park

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A pregnant woman said she was attacked while walking in Frick Park in Point Breeze.

The woman almost became the victim of a robbery, but didn't because she fought back – sending the suspect running for his life.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. in the bowling green section of the park.

The woman was alone and the suspect was not armed.

He is described as a white male, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing a black hoodie, gray pants and gray shirt. The gray shirt is said to have a blue and white logo.

"Well, it's a little disturbing," said Neil Gerjuoy who lives near the park. "I just woke up and noticed the police cars out here and discovered there had been an attempted robber or something like that. This is normally a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. I've been here for four years, which isn't a really long time, but … people feel very safe here."

The woman is only a few months pregnant and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
