Man Arrested After Fatal Beaver Co. Shooting

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) – A man from Beaver County is in jail after allegedly shooting and killing the mother of his children.

According to police, the incident happened at a home in the 1200-block of Main Street in Aliquippa shortly before 4 p.m.

The mother of three was shot and killed inside her home and while police have charged a suspect, the investigation is still underway.

Aliquippa Police searched through storm drains and yards looking for the gun that was used to kill 25-year-old Anesha Martin.

According to police, the father of two of her children surrendered and admitted to the shooting.

"The suspect turned himself into us early yesterday afternoon," Det. Sgt. Steven Roberts said.

Police said a concerned family member found the young mother dead in the living room Sunday afternoon. Police found the back door had been kicked in and Martin had a gunshot wound to the neck and a contact gunshot wound to the head.

In court papers, police report that 27-year-old Jasmen Walker told police he went to the house to talk about a fight and he, "could not take it anymore."

As he was being handcuffed he said, "You might want to check on her. She might have a little life in her."

"I have a daughter her age. When something like this happens, it hits home when you're a mother," Ursula Riggins, a neighbor, said.

The children were with a babysitter according to police, and did not witness the shooting. Neighbors said Anesha was kind-hearted, hard-working, and loved her kids more than anything.

Friends are holding a vigil tonight to remember the woman she was and to pray for the children she leaves behind.

Walker is being charged with criminal homicide and is being held at the Beaver County Jail.
