2 Arrested In Connection With Wilkinsburg Fatal Shooting

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Wilkinsburg that left one woman dead last week.

According to police, 28-year-old Monica Proviano was shot and killed on Trenton Avenue on April 10.

On Tuesday, police arrested Timothy Brock and William McGraw in connection with the shooting.

McGraw was arrested by McKeesport Police, while Brock was already in jail after being arrested on April 11 while driving Proviano's car.

Police say the case began to move forward when that rental car Proviano was driving as a jitney to make money for school was located in Beltzhoover.

Eventually, investigators say they determined that Brock and McGraw, of McKeesport, hatched a plan to rob a jitney driver. Police say whichever jitney driver answered their call would have been robbed.

Both suspects are 19-years-old and are facing a list of charges including, homicide, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle and conspiracy.

Proviano allegedly drove the suspects to an unrelated address. When they arrived, the suspects allegedly robbed and shot her.

Police aren't sure how much money, if any, they got from her.

Family and friends held a vigil for Proviano last week at the scene of the shooting.

Wilkinsburg Police Chief Ophelia Coleman said as a high school student, Proviano was once in the police department's D.A.R.E. program, which encourages scholarship and a drug-free lifestyle.
