Pens Giving Back With Fan Appreciation Week

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - It may be hard to believe, but hockey's regular season is winding down.

Now, the Pittsburgh Penguins are thanking fans with some really special offers.

For many years, the Pens saluted their loyal followers with Fan Appreciation Night.

This year, they're dedicating an entire week to what the team calls the "greatest fans in hockey."

Every day this week, there are unique prizes being offered -- mostly through social media. But, tonight the offer is through the television broadcast.

In the first and third periods of tonight's Pens-Senators game, you can win four tickets to the Fan Appreciation Night game on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

In the second period, you can win an autographed Evgeni Malkin replica jersey.

Other prizes will be made available through Twitter tomorrow, PittsburghPenguins.com on Wednesday, Facebook on Thursday and their mobile alert program on Friday.

Fan appreciation week ends with the final regular-season game on Saturday night with the popular "Shirts Off Our Backs" promotion.

This is the second time the Pens are really showing fans some love this season.

After the lockout ended, the team treated fans to free food and 50 percent discounts on merchandise.

Also back this year is the popular playoff "Beard-A-Thon.

The Pens are looking for fans and celebrity beard-growers-- to "Grow One for the Team."

You can help raise money for the Mario Lemieux Foundation by growing your beard for the length of the playoffs.

The top earners will win prizes-- from a team-signed authentic helmet, an autographed Mario Lemieux jersey and free haircuts for a year.
