PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — ROOT Sports Penguins analyst Jay Caufield joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to look back at the Penguins’ 4-2 loss to the Sabres.

Caufield feels it will be important for the Penguins to get Brooks Orpik back from the lower-body injury he suffered last night.

“He’s a key, key person because he brings that physical element,” Caufield said.

Caufield saw Evgeni Malkin getting back into the swing of things last night too.

“As the game wore on, I thought he got stronger, and was making things happen,” Caufield said. “The more shifts [he played], the stronger he got.”

He thinks it’s a great sign that the Penguins are thriving despite their recent injuries.

Caufield’s commentary can be heard during every Penguins game on ROOT Sports, and on The Fan Morning Show every week.
