OVERBROOK (KDKA) – A suspicious package closed part of Route 51 in Overbrook Thursday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the package was found near the intersection of Route 51 and Maytide Street around 10:45 a.m.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the device was described as being a box wrapped with wires.

Police said the object appeared to be a small transformer with copper wiring around the top.

The Bomb Squad was been called to the scene and EOD techs “enacted a general disrupt” before the area was deemed safe.
