Former Pens Goalie Brent Johnson Previews Pens-Islanders, Talks DiPietro Punch

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Former Penguins Goalie Brent Johnson knows a lot about playoff hockey given his times with the Pens and St. Louis Blues in which they made the post-season.

Johnson talked to The Fan live in-studio to talk about what this Penguins team needs to do to accomplish their goal of winning the Stanley Cup.

"Obviously you don't want to take anyone lightly," he said. "They have Nabokov in goal who hasn't really had that much success in the playoffs in the past, but he's been known to steal a game or two."

Johnson also talked about his one punch knockout of then Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro during a regular season game a few years ago.

"He's a USA guy, I'm a USA guy." he said. "I always want the best for those guys, and it was just one of those spur of the moment type things."

Johnson also told The Fan about what happened after the fight.

"He like pointed at me and said, 'are you a leftie?' and I said 'no Rick, no I'm not,'" he said.
