Colin Dunlap: RMU, Toole Agree On 3-Year Extension
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Robert Morris University and men's basketball coach Andy Toole have agreed to a three-year contract extension.
Toole will now be signed through the 2017-18 season.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The extension is expected to be officially announced by the university on Friday.
Toole, 32, has guided Robert Morris to a 68-36 record in three seasons at the school, including a 39-15 Northeast Conference mark.
His team was 24-11 overall this past season.
Toole's finest win, however, came in the postseason NIT in March, when his Colonials - at home - defeated a defending National Champion University of Kentucky team, 59-57.
Just after Toole's Colonials beat Kentucky in that NIT stunner, the coach joined 93.7 The Fan and was a tad resistant to speak about the future.
"Who I'm happy for is our players, who did all the heavy lifting, who did everything you have to do to win a game like that," Toole said. "That's who I'm excited for. We will worry about what goes on in the future, in the future."
