Child Luring Suspect Identified In Richland Twp.

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP (KDKA) --- 65-year old Thomas Wilhoit of Hampton Township was arrested at the home he shares with his mother.

Northern Regional Police say he tried to lure a 14-year old boy into his car Wednesday afternoon in Richland Twp.

Just after he got off of the school bus, the boy says Wilhoit was parked and tried to start a conversation with him.

"He was in  his car and said, hey, boy, you want a ride?," the unidentified boy says.

The boy responded saying it was a nice day and he was OK.

The man then asked the teen a second time, and he refused again.

Police say they were able to find Wilhoit, based on the boy's description of the suspect and his car.

"My son is very generous, he would offer a ride to anyone, I can't believe this," the suspect's mother, Lillian Miles says.

Miles says she was shocked when police showed up at her door this morning, and took her son away.

"It's very important that  students talk to their parents, and to the school administration," says Interim Superintendent, Dr. Thomas Foley. "This student was very pro-active this morning, he came off the school bus, explained to the principal what had happened when he got off the bus yesterday."

No word on whether Wilhoit will face charges.
