Luxury $8.275 Million Dollar Home Up For Sale

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - It's been featured in magazines around the world. A luxurious estate in our area that includes seven ponds, two streams, two spectacular greenhouses, and buildings decorated with one-of-a-kind collectibles.

It's simply called "The Farm."

It's located in rural Washington County, and when a local couple bought it 13 years ago, there were old appliances and tires on the property. But it's now been transformed.

The New York Times featured the estate, and Pittsburgh Magazine named it one of its Homes of the Year.

The place mixes luxury and rustic charm.

Tara Mruk from Prudential Preferred Realty showed us around the original farmhouse, which includes a porcelain bathtub surrounded with stone. There are chairs from Paris covered in mink.

There is land with outdoor sofas, and picnic tables with candelabras.

Marlene Sausman, also from Prudential, showed us around the greenhouses. "The chandeliers are from Paris, and the iron work is from the Syria Mosque," said Sausman.

The designer who helped the owner with much of what you see on the estate is Lisa Dagnal.

Dagnal says the challenge was to add to the beauty of the farm without detracting from the natural elements.

One of her original pieces is a coffee table in the living room. It's the stone base of an outdoor fountain, with dirt and pine combs inside and an acrylic top.

"We had to actually put reinforcements in the basement under the floor to support this!" said Dagnal.

The couple who bought the place wanted it as a retreat. They also used the land to grow food for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The property is now for sale for $8.275 million. That includes all the furniture and collectibles. It also includes, according to the Sausman, the potential of $5.5 million in oil, gas and mineral rights on the 150-acre property.
