Mon Valley Students Help Build Their Own Playground

JEFFERSON (KDKA) – Months and months of hard work pay off at a local school, and there is now a new playground at Mon Valley.

Students spent time doing everything for the park, from digging, to mixing and pouring concrete. They say it's amazing to see all of their efforts come together.

"I'm glad it's finished, I'm glad we are having fun. I'm glad to see all these kids having fun over here," student Dylan Allen said.

The students all deal with some sort of disability, from autism to down syndrome.

"They have a great deal of pride and feeling of accomplishment," Principal Jack Tachoir said.

"They never minded coming up and doing hard work. Every time a piece of equipment went up, they wanted to show it to me."

This is really just the beginning. The school plans to continue fundraising and adding on to the playground.
