Troy Hill Fire Ruled Arson, 1 In Custody

TROY HILL (KDKA)- A teenager is in custody after a fire late Thursday night in Troy Hill.

Investigators say the fire was intentionally set just before 11 p.m. Thursday night along the 1300 block of Truax Way.

"We looked out that door, and that porch was on fire, and then it went to this house," neighbor Al Thein said.

Firefighters had a hard time battling the flames, they had a narrow street to navigate, and overheard power lines.

It started in one house and spread to a second house. A man in the second house was on the third floor, and had to escape to the roof. He was pulled down to safety by firefighters on a ladder.

He didn't want to talk on camera, but did tell KDKA's Ross Guidotti to thank firefighters for saving his life.

The man was checked out by paramedics and appears to be fine. No one else was hurt in the fire.

The American Red Cross is helping two people with food and shelter.
