Andrew Ference Won't Change Game When He Returns To Bruins Lineup

BOSTON (CBS) -- With Andrew Ference sitting out Game 2 due to a one-game suspension, defense was a noticeably big problem for the Bruins on Saturday night, when they lost 4-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While Ference's absence can't be the only reason for the breakdowns, his return in Game 3 should restore some order on the back end, and his continued presence is something the Bruins will need going forward.

That, however, doesn't mean Ference plans on altering his game in any way in order to avoid any more discipline from the league.

"I think you play the same way," Ference said. "I saw a bunch of hits [Saturday] night that were the same kind of thing. It's just a hockey play. Guys are hitting each other all over the place.

"You see hits all around the league. Guys are aggressive and guys can hit. It's obviously not something that you have to take out of the sport."

Still, Ference seemed intent on making sure he doesn't have to go through the agony of watching a playoff game from the press box.

"It sucks," Ference said. "It's awful. You want to be a part of it and you want to contribute. You know how the families feel when you're watching, because you have no control and you're so invested in it. So it'll be great to get back on the ice."

Ference has 107 games of postseason experience on his resume, 56 with the Bruins. He has five goals, 14 assists and a plus-2 rating in those 56 games with Boston.
