Woman Sentenced In Fatal 2011 Westmoreland Co. Crash

GREENSBURG (KDKA) – A woman who was driving drunk at the time of a car crash that killed her friend will spend at least three years behind bars.

The judge told Lindsay Halliday that most people wouldn't be able to walk or talk after drinking as much as she had, let alone put a key in the ignition.

The victim was 30-year-old Lauren Thompson.

The crash happened early on a Thursday morning in June 2011 on Route 819 in Hempfield Township.

Halliday pleaded guilty in February to homicide by vehicle. She had a BAC of .234.

She'll spend three to six years in a state prison.

She will report to prison on May 20.

Family and friends of Lauren Thompson have set up a foundation in her memory. It's called Lauren's Wing and will raise money to help injured and gravely ill animals.
