Man Arrested At Airport After Allegedly Threatening To Kill, Then Carjacking Ex-Wife

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP/KDKA) - An Illinois man is jailed on charges that he threatened to kill his ex-wife and stole her car as she was driving him to Pittsburgh International Airport after visiting their son.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 39-year-old Jason Sargent, of Tinley Park, Ill., who was arrested in Washington County early Sunday morning.

Police say Rachel Sargent, of Brownsville, was driving the defendant to the airport when they began arguing, prompting her to stop the car. Police say Jason Sargent also threatened his ex-wife's boyfriend who was driving in a car behind the couple before Sargent drove off in his ex-wife's car.

State police say Sargent reportedly called to brag that he had passed through airport security and couldn't be arrested. Police say he said, "I'm past security ready to board, and there is nothing you can do to me." Police say he couldn't have been more wrong.

They found Sargent inside the terminal and arrested him, and also recovered the stolen car.

He's jailed and faces a preliminary hearing June 5.
