MLB Analyst Sean Casey: Pirates' Plan Coming Together

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Isn't Election Day in Pittsburgh the perfect day to catch up with "The Mayor?" Former Pirate and current MLB Network analyst Sean Casey talks baseball with Vinnie Richichi on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.

Casey looks back on a conversation he had a few years ago with Pirates General Manager Neal Huntington.

"I remember talking to Neal, and he was saying, 'we're a good four or five years away from where we want to be.' Well, that time is now. And they have Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon still coming, too. I think their plan is coming together." Casey said.

Casey is quite impressed with the punch the Pirates have placed at the top of the order with Starling Marte.

"He has never seen a pitch he doesn't like to swing at," Casey said. "But, those guys can be dangerous when they have the ability Marte has. He's a game-changer at the top of the lineup."

He also reveals his key for the Pirates to maintain the success they've had so far.

"Staying healthy, especially A.J. [Burnett] and Wandy [Rodriguez] and those guys at the top of the rotation. If the Pirates can stay healthy, I really think they can sustain what they're doing," Casey said.

Casey also discusses the latest event his Casey's Clubhouse organization is involved with, and other items he is watching around the big leagues.
