Man Arrested After Alleged Sexual Assault

HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) - A woman is recovering after she said she was attacked by a jitney driver in the Hill District overnight.

According to court documents, the alleged victim's life was threatened just moments before she claims she was sexually assaulted. Now, her alleged attacker is at the Allegheny County Jail.

Eric Pace was led out of Pittsburgh Police headquarters in handcuffs early Tuesday morning. He was positively identified by the alleged victim as her attacker.

The woman told police she and her sister had been at Black Beauty's Lounge until just before 3 a.m.

Leaving the bar, she approached a jitney stand and allegedly got into Pace's SUV after he said he was a jitney.

But, after just a few blocks, she told police he stopped the car and said, "I'm getting ready to kill you. Better not move or say nothing."

The woman reported to police that he ripped off her shorts and underwear and raped her. Only after she bit him was she able to escape from the SUV.

A Carnegie Mellon University Police officer spotted the SUV not long after in North Oakland. The alleged victim had told police that Pace was armed with a handgun. Police searched through Oakland looking for it when they discovered Pace's gun holster was empty.

Pace is not only facing the rape charge, but also unlawful restraint and aggravated indecent assault.
