Suspects Sought After Officer's Personal Car Shot Up In Allentown

ALLENTOWN (KDKA) – Police are investigating after an officer's personal car was shot up in Allentown Monday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the incident happened near the intersection of Manton Way and Millbridge Street.

Off-duty officer Sgt. Stephen Matakovich was on his way to work when the car was shot at by two males.

He was not injured and had initially thought his car was hit by stones. But when he got to the police station, he realized the car had been hit by two bullets.

Around the same time of the shooting, police also received a 911 call for gunfire in the same area. Police did find two males, ages 15 and 17, who were suspected to be in the same area around the time of the shooting.

The boys were taken to police headquarters and interviewed, but no charges have been filed.

Police also searched the area for guns, but could not find any. However, they did find six shell casings.

It's unclear still who shot the car and what the motive was, but police say they don't think the officer was the intended target.
