1 Injured, 1 In Custody After Shooting In Derry

DERRY BOROUGH (KDKA) -- One man is in custody following a shooting in Westmoreland County.

Derry Police arrested the man at a house in the borough.

At around 1:40 p.m., police say the man went to an apartment on South Chestnut Street and knocked on the door.

When the man living there answered, he was shot twice in the face.

Police say the men knew one another, but declined to comment on a motive.

The suspect took off. The victim went to a bank next door for help. A teller called 911.

The victim was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in serious, but stable condition.

Police had a block of South Chestnut Street taped off for most of the afternoon.

People living in the small town are on edge. They say Derry is a quiet place where things like this don't usually happen.
