Bruins Analyst: This Is The Series We Have Been Waiting For

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Boston Bruins Color Analyst Bob Beers joined The Fan Morning Show Friday to preview the upcoming Eastern Conference Finals between the Penguins and the Bruins.

"It's finally Happening" Beers said. "It's the two best teams in the East meeting as it should be."

Beers said this match-up will feature two teams playing at their highest level for a chance to go to the Cup finals.

It's strength vs. strength as the Pens' high-powered offense goes face-to-face with the Bruins' tough minded defense.

Bob says the Bruins are well aware of the Penguins' fire power and they respect it. The Bruins counter on defense may be a work in progress with changes being made as the series goes on, but the only way the Bruins can be in this series is to be physical and enforce hits.

Milan Lucic is one of those guys who could be called on to make a difference.

"He is a major factor" Beers said. "He has been a real force in these playoffs."

He says he will need to be for the Bruins to get past the Pens.

The Bruins could be a team making the most out of a near Game 7 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round. Beers said it was a wake up call that has inspired them.

"They feel fortunate to come out of that one" Beers said. "Great Comeback."

He also says they were given a scare and they have been making the most of that second chance.

Beers is a frequent guest on The Fan Morning Show and has been hoping for this series for the past couple of seasons. He may be looking to get back to Pittsburgh since he has ties here, but he says the real reason is that these are the two best in the East.

"For either one of these teams they will have to go through the other to get to the Stanley Cup Finals" Beers said. "It's the way it should be"
