Horse Rescued After Becoming Trapped In Ravine
MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- A horse was rescued from a ravine off a rural road in Murrysville today.
The horse wandered from a farm and became trapped in the creek bed overnight.
She was spotted by some municipal workers this morning.
The Westmoreland County Animal Response Team put straps around the animal.
The White Valley Fire Department used air bags to reposition the animal and used saws to clear brush.
The group then used a local farmer's equipment to lift the horse to safety.
The animal's only visible injury was a laceration on its side, but workers say the animal was exhausted and not in good shape.
The horse was taken to Allegheny Equine Center to be checked out.
It's not clear who owns the horse or how it ended up in the ravine.
