1 Arrested After Duquesne Shooting

DUQUESNE (KDKA) -- One man is in police custody after opening fire on another man on a street in Duquesne.

It happened late Friday afternoon near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and 3rd Street.

Officials say 22-year-old Allen Parker III was shot twice in the stomach and once in the chest. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital in critical condition.

Overnight, police arrested 21-year-old Christopher Westbrooks in McKeesport at a house on Penny Street. They say he was hiding under garbage bags in the basement.

"There's really no words that can be said, going through these horrible tragedies. All you can do is just be there," Rev. Timothy Caldwell told KDKA.

He consoled Parker's stepfather, who lost another stepson to gun violence four years ago in the City of Pittsburgh.

"Once you take a life, it's a done deal. And I believe a man without purpose walks aimlessly, and this is one of the reasons these things continuously happen," said Caldwell.

Parker is in the hospital in critical condition.
