Suspects Sought After $10K Of Copper Wire Stolen From Wind Turbines
SOMERSET TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after roughly $10,000 worth of copper wiring was stolen from a parking lot used to store disassembled wind turbines in Somerset County.
According to police, the incident happened in the 1900-block of North Center Avenue in Somerset Township sometime between May 29 and June 11.
The suspects stole 150 feet of one-inch black coated copper wire from two different turbine tower bases.
It is believed the suspects loaded the wire into a vehicle in the Happy Valley Church parking lot before fleeing the area.
The damage to the AES Wind Generation turbines was estimated at $5,000.
