Darrelle Revis Back In Pittsburgh To Help Local Youth

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan)--Former Pitt star, Darrelle Revis has turned into one of the elite defensive players in the National Football League. On Monday, he joined the Fan Morning Show to promote his Revis Island Foundation, and ways that he has remained involved with the local community.

Darrelle said there were some down times in the lead-up to being traded from the New York Jets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Watching SportsCenter, he would hear that he was going to be traded.

"You don't know where your future is at," Revis said. But, he described his situation in Tampa as "awesome."

We heard about Darrelle's relationship with his former coach, Rex Ryan.

"He's a good coach," Revis said, affirming that there are no hard feelings between either sides. "They moved up 11 spots to take me."

Revis will be facing some elite level quarterbacks and receivers in the NFL South. Drew Brees and Cam Newton will be a challenge for the former Pitt star. But, he is up for the challenge and eager to get started.

With his alma mater, Pitt, moving into the ACC, Darrelle is accepting of the change, and understands the reasoning for it. But, he will miss the Big East. Regardless, he has not forgotten where he came from saying, "Hail to Pitt."

Darrelle is in town for the Free 2-Day Skills and Drills Football Camp to help local kids learn to play the game.

"My biggest thing is to give back," Darrelle said.
