Man Kills Self, Ex-Girlfriend In Reserve Twp.

RESERVE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before turning the gun on himself Tuesday night in Reserve Township.

The two people were found inside a home in the 3400-block of Spring Garden Road.

According to police, 25-year-old Alisha Virtue was shot by her ex-boyfriend, before he then turned the gun on himself.

Virtue was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the gunshot wound. Virtue also has a 2-year-old, son who was not home at the time of the shooting.

Her ex-boyfriend was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in grave condition, where he later died. He has been identified as Nicholas Starr, 24, of the Highland Park area.

Both were discovered upstairs by the Virtue's mother and sister.

A neighbor reported seeing the mother and sister outside and clearly distraught, which is when he called 911.

"I was out for about 15 minutes, come home, the mother and sister were in the yard hysterical. We ran over to see what was going on and they said, 'She's shot, she's shot,'" Daryl Slone said.

The 2-year-old's biological father later arrived at the crime scene to take his son home.
