Former Sopranos Cast Member Joe Gannascoli Remebers James Gandolfini

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Former Sopranos cast member Joe Gannascoli who played "Vito" on the HBO Series joined The Fan Morning Show to remember James Gandolfini.

Gandolfini died after suffering cardiac arrest late Wednesday while vacationing in Italy. He was 51 years old.

"I was shocked, sad and scared," Gannascoli said. "He was younger than me."

Gannascoli said Gandolfini's death serves as a wake up call for himself as someone who has struggled with weight issues and who also smokes.

Gannascoli described Gandolfini as a guy that put everything into his character and worked hard at his craft but away from the show. He also says his former colleague was a quiet guy.

"He was a down-to-earth regular guy," Gannascoli said. "He was an icon, a star, but he was a regular guy."

Gannascoli said that because of Gandolfini's work on the show, it will be one of those shows that have staying power. He says great acting will always hold up.
