PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –A man was taken to the hospital after crashing his car in Washington County Friday.

Police say 55-year-old Dennis Hackl was driving along State Route 70 in North Franklin Township around 9:25 a.m. when he lost control of the car.

In an attempted to gain control, police say Hackl drove into a steep embankment, traveling about 100 feet and stopping on the shoulder of the road.

He was then taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Police say Hackl was likely under the influence of an illegal drug such as Hydrocodone, Valium or Fentanyl.
