State Police: Man Lunged At Troopers Armed With Bayonet

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County man is behind bars after police say he lunged at two state troopers with a World War II bayonet.

The incident happened at a home in the Carbon section of Hempfield Township just before 4 p.m. Friday.

State police identify the suspect as Edward Gorinski.

According to police, the two troopers were responding to a call at the home when Gorinski allegedly attacked them with the World War II Carbine Bayonet.

State police say the troopers had to use Tasers to control the suspect and take him into custody.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

After being arrested, Gorinski was arraigned and then transported to the Westmoreland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 straight bond.
