Clerk At State College Hotel Beaten By Man In Spider-Man Mask

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - Police in State College say they are searching for a suspect after the on-duty night desk clerk at a hotel was beaten by a man wearing a Spider-Man mask and wielding a large skeleton key.

It happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday at the Hotel State College on W. College Avenue. Investigators say the suspect was dressed in all black and armed with the key when he repeatedly started hitting the clerk in what police believe may have been an attempted robbery.

The suspect is described as approximately five-feet-10-inches to six-feet tall with a heavy, muscular build. In addition to the all-black clothing, police say the Spider-Man mask was also black.

The key is 12-inches in length and weighs 19 ounces and is believed to be either a decoration of a paperweight.

Police are testing them for possible DNA evidence.

The clerk was taken to a hospital for observation after the assault.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to contact State College Police at 814-234-7150.
