State Police Seek Suspect In Armed Robbery At Fayette Co. Dollar General

NORTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police in Fayette County are searching for the suspect in a violent armed robbery at a Dollar General store in Fayette County.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Monday at the store on N. Gallatin Avenue in North Union Township.

According to state police, a store employee – identified as 41-year-old Edward Fabian of Uniontown – was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot when the suspect came up behind him.

Authorities say the suspect grabbed the back of Fabian's shirt, put a silver handgun to the back of his neck and then demanded cash.

The suspect then forced Fabian back into the store at gunpoint and towards the register, investigators said.

State police report that before fleeing the store the suspect punched Fabian in the face because he wasn't able to open the register and also because he thought the victim had turned on an alarm.

The suspect is described as an African American male, about six-feet tall with a medium build and was wearing a dark-blue jacket, dark pants, black gloves and a dark facial covering.

Police say he was driving dark Jeep Cherokee.

State police searched the area for the suspect and his vehicle but found nothing.

Investigators say the same man may have held up a nearby restaurant in Uniontown a short time later.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to contact state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.
