MLB.com's Richard Justice: Pirates Are Real And Spectacular

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - It still seems funny to say, but the Pittsburgh Pirates are playing like one of the best teams in baseball.

MLB.com Executive Correspondent Richard Justice doesn't think the Pirates are a joke. He tells Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan's Vinnie & Cook why he has bought in to the Buccos.

Earlier this week, Justice wrote that he thinks the Pirates are playing well enough right now to be able to win the World Series.

"They look real to me," says Justice. "I think everything changed the day Clint Hurdle walked in the door. What he said was, 'whatever was acceptable yesterday is not acceptable today.' A thousand little things have to fall into place, and right now they look good."

Justice is also high on the Pirates being well-represented in the All-Star Game, and makes the case for five Pittsburgh players to be making the trip.

"I tell you, [Pedro] Alvarez is going to make it. No question about that," he said. "Whoever puts the team together is going to be looking to bring him in in the seventh or eighth inning."

Justice also has a message to the pessimistic Pirates fans: "It may never be this good again. Shut up and enjoy it! When you have a good team, I hope everybody there is enjoying it. It's fun to go to the ballpark and see a good team play."
