1 Dead, 1 Injured In Hazelwood Shootings

HAZELWOOD (KDKA) – Police are investigating two shootings in Hazelwood that left one person dead and another injured Tuesday morning.

According to police, the first shooting happened in the 900-block of Rosselle Court around 1:25 a.m.

The victim said he was inside eating a pizza, when he heard the sliding screen door to the bedroom squeak. The victim went to the room, yelled and heard footsteps outside running away.

At that time, the 45-year-old victim ran down to the lobby of the building to try and catch the suspects. Shortly after, shots were fired and the victim was struck in the face, before quickly running back inside the lobby of the apartment building.

He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with a gunshot wound to the ear and cheek.

Officers then received a call about a man being shot in the 300-block of Winston Street.

When officers arrived, they found an African-American man on his back with another man holding a towel to his chest.

The second victim was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:22 a.m.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
