Teen Arrested After String Of Sexual Assaults In East Liberty

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A teen who police say sexually assaulted several women in East Liberty was arrested.

Police say the 17-year-old was arrested after assaulting a 24-year-old female while she was waiting for the bus in the 6100-block of East Liberty Boulevard Tuesday night.

After the teen assaulted her, the woman was able to get away and pounded on a Port Authority bus.

However, the teen was found Wednesday night at his East Liberty home in possession of marijuana and was arrested.

He is charged with indecent assault and possession of marijuana.

Police say they believe the teen is the same person responsible for three recent sexual assaults in East Liberty that happened on June 26, 29 and 30.

Cmdr. Timothy O'Connor said for the past week he's had additional patrols in the neighborhood where the attacks happened. A couple of uniformed officers were then able to identify the suspect.

The teen was also arrested and charged with criminal attempted rape and simple assault after police say he tried to rape a 16-year-old girl last August. He was on probation after that incident.
