Rob Scuderi Eyes His Third Cup In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)--The Pittsburgh Penguins made a splash in free agency, and it was a familiar one, bringing back former Stanley Cup winner, Rob Scuderi. He joined the Fan Morning Show on Tuesday to discuss his return to the 'Burgh.

Unfortunately, after the Penguins won the Stanley Cup in 2009, Rob became too overpriced for the Penguins. He left for Los Angeles and won another Cup there, calling it "a great experience."

"It wasn't easy" Rob said of leaving Pittsburgh, "but I'm certainly happy it worked out."

Rob is happy to be back as well. He has stayed in touch with many of the players on the Penguins roster over the last four years saying that he would meet up with them if they were in Los Angeles to get dinner or a beer.

Kris Letang would appear to be Rob's next defensive partner. "Rare ability," is how 'Scuds' described Letang. While he hasn't seen much of Letang since he left, Rob would welcome playing along-side the Norris Trophy finalist.

Rob is famously known as "The Piece" here in Pittsburgh. If he returns and the Penguins win the Cup again, that might actually be the truth.

"Let's hope the nickname sticks in that case, then," Scuderi said.
