W. Va. Singer Writes Song About His Home State

You Remind Me Of West Virginia (Original) By: Wyatt Turner by Wyatt Turner on YouTube

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia singer is turning heads with a tune he wrote about his home state.

A video of Wyatt Turner playing an acoustic guitar and singing "You Remind Me of West Virginia" has been viewed more than 97,000 times since it was posted on Youtube on Monday.

The 24-year-old Pocahontas County native tells media outlets he got the song's idea while returning from Nashville.

He saw the "welcome" sign as he crossed West Virginia's border and jotted a note to himself.

He says the song's words are a comparison between the beauty of the state and his fiancee.

The lyrics include "You're wild and wonderful, like a breeze I've always known," and "You're my country road, oh girl, you take me home."
