Cell Phone Thief Targets 2 Local H.H. Gregg Stores

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A thief with a very specific shopping list took nearly $10,000 worth of merchandise Sunday from two H.H. Gregg stores.

One store was in Robinson Township, while the second store was on the other side of Pittsburgh along Route 22 in Wilkins Township.

In each case, the general manager of the store said the man walked through the store talking on his cell phone. He declined help from a customer service representative and eventually made his way to the cell phone section of the store.

That is where store management said he forced open a cage under a display case and took eight Verizon cell phones, including the Apple iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note.

The second incident happened about two hours after the first where the suspect repeated his routine.

Even though the suspect appears to have changed clothes, high resolution surveillance video shows the African-American male with a beard wearing the same teal blue shoes.

A weapon was not shown at either location, but police reports have been filed.

If you recognize the man in question, you are asked to contact Wilkins Township Police or authorities in Robinson Township.
