PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)–The Pirates opened the unofficial second half of their season with a series loss to the Cincinnati Reds. They were able to salvage a game on Sunday to pull three games ahead of the Reds in the standings.
To talk about the second half of the season and the upcoming trade deadline, the Fan Morning Show was joined by ROOT Sports Studio Host, Rob King on Monday.
With the offense struggling to score runs, King said he would like to add a bat to the lineup, but the team would have to be smart about it.
“You have to wonder what one bat would really do,” King said. He would like to add another situational hitter, rather than a power bat.
The pitching staff could use an upgrade, as well. Though the Pirates are currently in a playoff position, Rob thinks the team can still improve. But, if it means trading away a guy like Gregory Polanco, or Jameson Taillon, Rob would not make that trade.
