Dwyer Eyes Starting Job At Steelers Training Camp

PITTSBURGH (93.7 THE FAN)--Steelers Training Camp is now under way from St. Vincent College in Latrobe. On Monday, the Fan Morning Show was joined by Steelers running back, Jonathan Dwyer.

With the departure of Rashard Mendenhall, Dwyer, Isaac Redman, and newcomer, Le'Veon Bell will all be competing to be the starter who handles the majority of the carries. Jon does not just want to take an open position, though.

"I want to prove to people that I can be one of the best," Dwyer said of making a name for himself around the league.

The team is now entering into the second year of Todd Haley's offense. Jon said that the transitional period is over.

"There is no miscommunication," Dwyer said, "Everybody knows exactly what they are doing."

Last season, Ben Roethlisberger said that he referred to old plays at times, but Dwyer said that everybody is on the same page as their coordinator this season.

The offensive line is fresh with young talent that was drafted over the last five years. Dwyer is excited to run behind the talented line, saying, "We could have one of the best lines in the league."

For the fans who visit training camp, Jon said that they are in for a show with today's "Backs on Backers" drill. Jon is excited to get the contact going, take some hits, and deliver some blows as well.
