Peters Twp. Police Probe Attempted Abduction Report In Grocery Parking Lot

PETERS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Peters Township Police are investigating an attempted abduction in a grocery store parking lot.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Giant Eagle in Donaldson Crossroads.

A 17-year-old girl told police she was walking to her car when someone grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her backward.

She slipped free of the man's grasp and got into her car.

Another man reportedly tried to get in a passenger-side door, but the teen was able to put the car in reverse and hit the man with her mirror.

The girl was not hurt, but understandably shaken.

Police are unsure of the man's intentions. They plan to interview the girl again in the coming days.

The suspect who grabbed the teen is described as a white man in his 20s. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time.

Police say shoppers should be aware of the report, but not concerned for their safety.
