Pirates Didn't Get Sweep, But Fans Still Thrilled With Team's Success

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pirates' fans who brought brooms to the last game of the series with Cardinals might not have gotten their five-game sweep, but they're still thrilled with how the team is doing.

The final score of Thursday's game was 13-0, but the Pirates loss comes after winning the first four games of the series.

Jamie Morton, of Moon Township, says he's extremely proud of how the Pirates did against the Cards.

He says before the series started, he probably wouldn't have imagined them taking four games against a team as formidable as the Cardinals.

The Pirates great success this season is getting them national attention.

The New York Times wrote about the rarity of the Pirates of entering August in first place, and Sports Illustrated wrote about the Bucs, calling their success "the strangest but truest story of the summer."
