Movie Review: 2 Guns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A memorable action movie, with just enough comedy mixed in to make it a surprise hit.

Dear Hollywood: What took you so long to put Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg together in a movie?

Washington and Wahlberg lead an all-star cast in Universal Picture's "2 Guns." The film tracks two operatives trying to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions of dollars.

The only problem? Neither one knows that the other is an undercover federal agent.

The movie features a lot of action, but not a lot of CGI which is a nice change from previous summer blockbusters.

I went into this movie not expecting a lot and was pleasantly surprised. But it wasn't the action that stood out in the movie, it was the comedic performance by both actors that left the entire audience in stitches.

During the screening, there were multiple times that I couldn't even hear the follow-up to a punch line because everyone was laughing so hard. (Don't you just hate that by the way!)

They needed to do outtakes after the credits, because they would've been hilarious; perhaps the DVD will include as bonus footage.

Mark Wahlberg really stands out and steals the show with the best lines in the movie.

It's not just Washington and Wahlberg that make it a success. Bill Paxton, Paula Patton, James Marsden and Edward James Olmos round out the cast.

Overall I give "2 Guns" a B+. The plot can get a little convoluted, but the action and comedy are what make this a great summer movie.

"2 Guns" is in theaters now.
